· Inspection will be conducted at agricultural and forestry farms (Thoi bao Kinh te Viet Nam [Vietnam Economic Times, No. 102, p3). According to Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Diep Kinh Tan, state-owned agricultural and forestry farms run a total area of 3.6 million ha, but they are operating inefficiently and paying a worker a modest salary of 400,000-500,000 VND per month.
· Trade deficit keeps rising sharply (Thoi bao Kinh te Viet Nam [Vietnam Economic Times, No. 102, p6). In the first four months of this year, trade deficit increased 3.9 folds from the same period last year.
· Much remains to be done in the second half of this year (Dau tu [Investment], No. 51, p1). The Government’s efforts to curb inflation have led to a slowdown in the increase of the consumer price index but much need to be done in the future.
· Breaking the ice on the OTC market (Dau tu, No. 51, p6). Shares of around 40 businesses in banking and insurance sectors will be traded on the OTC floor.

· Will real estate market be “hot” because of the Hanoi expansion plan? (Nha bao va Cong luan [Journalists and Public Opinion], No. 18, p1). While the real estate remains cool following a fever, the prices of land in the areas that fall into the Hanoi expansion plan are increasing everyday. If the Hanoi expansion plan is approved by the National Assembly in the next session, will the Hanoi real estate market see a new boiling period?
