Hanoi (VNA) – Spanish conductor Carlos Cuesta will lead the Hanoi Philharmonic Orchestra this Friday night in Hanoi .

The concert is one of many cultural activities taking place as part of European Days in Vietnam . Cuesta has selected a number of compositions, including some rare Spanish pieces and first movements entitled “Childhood Melody” from the “ Half a Life” symphony by Vietnamese composer Tran Manh Hung. The group will present a masterpiece by the musical genius Lugwig van Beethoven during the second part of the programme.

As one of the most prolific conductors of the Spanish musical scene, Cuesta’s interest in modern music has pushed him to produce many international performances and recordings of several Spanish and Latin American composers. In Santa Fe , Argentina , he founded an association which includes prestigious Latin American composers.

Carlos Cuesta was a lecturer of the National Spanish Orchestra from 1990 to 1995. From 1995 to 2002, he was the lead conductor of Argentina ’s Santa Fe Symphony Orchestra.
