FIFA lowers penalty on Vietnamese footballers

06/05/2008 -- 6:45 PM

Hanoi (VNA) – The International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) has agreed to reduce the suspension period on four Vietnamese footballers, according to the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF).

The footballers, Quoc Anh, Bat Hieu, Phuoc Vinh and Hai Lam, were among seven players to be reported with negative conduct at the 23 rd Southeast Asian Games in the Philippines in 2005. They received a VFF suspension from the competition for three years from 2007.

The commutation was given to the footballers in recognition of their recent good conduct.

According to the VFF new decision, from April 23, the four footballers are now permitted to take part in VFF-organised tournaments, except international events. They will be put under close watch from now until 2010 to earn participation in international tournaments.-Enditem
