Global fund gives Laos 35m USD to fight HIV/AIDS

Vientiane (VNA) – Geneva-based Global Fund has pledged to provide Laos’s national HIV/AIDS control programme with financial assistance worth more than 35 million USD. In an agreement signed by the Lao government and the Global Fund last weekend, Laos became the first country in the Asia-Pacific to get the fund’s financial assistance for HIV/AIDS. The Global Fund has helped the Lao Health Ministry to carry out programmes on community-based diseases since 2003.-Enditem
