US firms look for long-term investment in Vietnam

07/05/2008 -- 7:25 PM

Hanoi (VNA) – The President of the US-ASEAN Business Council says US businesses hope to invest in Vietnam for the long term, raising investment to a new level equal to the potential of US businesses and the US economy.

The US-ASEAN Business Council President, Matthew Daley, is currently leading a delegation of entrepreneurs from 24 major US groups on a visit to Vietnam.

At a meeting with Permanent member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat Truong Tan Sang on May 7, Daley praised Vietnam’s recent social economic changes and the fine development of Vietnam-US relations.

Sang welcomed the US enterprises to run businesses and invest in Vietnam , saying the Vietnamese Party and Government have created favourable conditions for foreign investors and work to protect their interests in the country.

The Party official said he highly appreciated the US-ASEAN Business Council organising visits for US business delegations to explore opportunities in Vietnam and for contributing to accelerating the two countries’ economic, commercial and investment ties.-Enditem
