India test-fires longest range ballistic missile

New Delhi (VNA) - India has test-fired a 3,500-km range surface-to-surface nuclear Agni-III missile from Wheelers' Island in Balasore off the Orissa coast.

It was the third test of the missile and the second to be successful. The previous test was carried out in April 2007, following the first test in 2006 that failed shortly after lift off.

The Agni-III is India's longest range ballistic missile with a 3,000km (1,860-mile) range.-Enditem
