Buddhist monk praises Tra Vinh province’s support

08/05/2008 -- 4:14 PM

Tra Vinh (VNA) – A senior Buddhist monk has praised the Mekong delta Tra Vinh province for creating favourable conditions for Buddhist followers to practise their religion.

As deputy head of the Tra Vinh Buddhist Chapter Executive Board, the Venerable Thich Phuoc Minh said local authorities have assisted his board in building places of worship and sending monks and nuns abroad for training.

Tra Vinh province has provided hundreds of millions of Vietnam dong for the upgrade of the Luong Xuyen Pagoda – a cradle of Buddhism in the southern region where a number of dignitaries in the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha were trained.

There are around 3,690 dignitaries and 433,700 monks and nuns in Tra Vinh province who are practising their religion in 320 places of worship.-Enditem
