Hanoi, Vientiane advance health cooperation

Vientiane (VNA) - The capital city of Hanoi will help its Lao counterpart Vientiane organise food hygiene courses for health staff and train health workers for the 25 th Southeast Games scheduled for late 2009. At a regular meeting held recently in Vientiane, health officials from the two cities also pledged to speed up the Sisattanak Hospital upgrade and develop a plan to build a Maxillo-Facial orthopedics centre and two serum and oriental medicine production facilities in the Lao capital. Meanwhile, from May 6 to 9 surgeons from the Hanoi-based Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Hospital performed free operations on 60 cleft palate patients in Vientiane. More than 340 cleft palate sufferers in Vientiane have been provided with free surgery since 1999 as part of a bilateral cooperation program.-Enditem
