Cobra Gold 2008 exercise begins in Thailand

Bangkok (VNA) – This year’s annual military exercise named “Cobra Gold” has begun in an airforce base in central Thailand. The 14-day drill starting on May 8 involves 6,000 Thai soldiers and 5,100-strong US troops. It was also attended by 180 Singaporean, 80 Japanese, and 65 Indonesian military personnel. Forces from the five countries will undertake activities including a computer-simulated command post and real-bullet shooting exercises. –Enditem
