09/05/2008 -- 11:12 AM

Hanoi (VNA) – Non-government organisation Operation Smile Vietnam (OSVN) will open its seventh art auction in Ho Chi Minh City on May 17 to raise money for facial deformity surgery.

OSVN hopes use the fundraising to provide free surgery for around 2,000 Vietnamese children with harelip and cleft palate this year, a third more than last year.

The organisation said it has treated more than 11,000 children since 1989.

According to statistics from the Ministry of Health, about 3,000 children are born with facial deformities every year.-Enditem
