HCM City (VNA) – The Japanese Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, Ikuo Mizuki, on May 8 handed over 85,000 USD worth of medical equipment to Nam Can hospital in southern Ca Mau province.

The hospital has been equipped with 15 machines, including an electrocardiograph and an ultrasound scanner, under a Japanese government programme to provide non-refundable aid for small-size projects.

Director of Nam Can District Hospital Tran Thieu Thanh said the project has helped the hospital give medical examinations to nearly 2,200 patients, reduce the mortality rate by 30 percent and enable the hospital to treat a number of serious illnesses.-Enditem
