Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee President Huynh Dam on May 8 sent a letter of greeting to Buddhist dignitaries, monks, nuns and followers at home and abroad on the occasions of the anniversary of Buddha’s birthday.
“Inheriting the tradition of doing good for both the religion and the nation, the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha and Buddhist followers have joined the entire people in bringing into play the strength of great national unity, accelerating the cause of national industrialisation and modernisation and international integration for the goals of a rich people, a strong country, and a democratic, equal and civilised society,” the letter said.
“The Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee was pleased to see the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’s active contributions and its willingness to prepare for the celebrations of the UN Buddhist Day of Vesak in 2008 in Vietnam with the aim of honouring the cultural values and morals of Buddhism, contributing to building good people and communities for a society of peace, happiness, harmonious and sustainable development, friendship and cooperation.”-Enditem
