EU funds Lao media development

Vientiane (VNA) - The European Union has provided 90,000 USD to support a professional development course for Lao journalists. Officially launched last week in Vientiane, the two-year training project, run through the Laos Journalists’ Association, will equip local journalists with international standard knowledge and skills in news coverage. As the first EU assistance to Lao media, the European Union Ambassador to Laos Friedrich Hamburger said it marked an significant step in the bilateral cooperation between the EU and the Lao Journalists' Association. He said the training course would create a good environment for the development of journalistic resources at both central and provincial levels.-Enditem
