Vietnamese female scientists win international prizes

13/05/2008 -- 9:10 PM

Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnamese female scientists have won 19 medals at the International Women Invention Exposition in Seoul from May 8-12.

The medals include two golds, nine silvers and eight bronzes. All medal winners had earlier bagged Vietnam ’s Scientific and Technological Innovation (VIFOTEC) prizes.

According to Dr. Le Xuan Thao, Permanent Deputy President of the VIFOTEC Fund, Head of the Vietnamese Women Inventors Group to the exhibition, Vietnamese female scientists’ project entries were highly appreciated in Seoul as they were involved in areas dominantly studied by male scientists. Several projects had won contracts from foreign businesses.

This was the first time the VIFOTEC Fund took part in the exhibition, which was held by the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) in coordination with the International Federation of Inventors Associations and the Korea Women Inventors Association to promote creativeness by women scientists all over the world.-Enditem
