Hanoi (VNA) – Young cinema fans in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City will have the chance to enjoy a wide selection of movies when a European film festival begins on May 16 in both cities.
Chosen exclusively for an audience of children and teenagers, the 10 movies to be presented during the festival come from the EU member nations of Belgium, Denmark, France, Finland, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweeden, Spain, Italy, and the UK.
The festival – hosted jointly by the Delegation of the European Commission to Vietnam , the embassies of the EU member states and the European Cultural Institute – aims to present films that will enlighten, inspire and entertain children and teenagers.
According to the Ambassador and Head of the Delegation of the European Commission to Vietnam, Sean Doyle, children of all ages love the cinema and most of them learn something in the process of being entertained.
“Whether it is animation, or even the latest star-studded block-buster, there is always something for kids to watch, enjoy, and discuss afterwards with their friends. We are proud to introduce these fireworks of cinematic diversity to Vietnamese audiences,” he said.
One of the numerous cultural activities organised for the European Days, the film festival promises to be a standout cultural event for the young people of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City .
The movies, which reflect the diversity of European cultures and ways of life, will be screened at the National Cinema Centre in Hanoi from May 16-22, and the Galaxy in Ho Chi Minh City from May 22-30.
