NGOs improve living conditions for lepers in Gia Lai

14/05/2008 -- 6:24 PM

Gia Lai (VNA) – Central Highlands’ Gia Lai province has so far received more than 85,000 USD from non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to improve conditions for people living with leprosy.

Since 2003, the Association Francaise Raoul Follereau (AFRF) has donated 40,000 USD to help hundreds of lepers living in Man Yang and Dak Doa districts upgrade houses, build water tanks and farm the land.

The sum has also helped dozens of leper families leave the jungle.

Over the past six years, the Netherlands Leprosy Control Association has also donated 28,000 USD for training and information on leprosy control, helping improve community awareness about preventing the disease.-Enditem
