Vietnamese photographer wins int’l contest

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnamese photographer Duong Quoc Dinh has been awarded the highest prize in the seventh Giuliano Carrara international photo contest in Italy.

Dinh’s four black-and-white photos “Loi cua gio” (wind’s words), “Thanh binh 1” (Peace 1), “Thanh binh 2” (Peace 2), “Lac quan” (Optimism) took the prize, making the photographer the first foreign artist to win such honours since the competition was first held in 1996.

Beating more than 4000 photos submitted by artists from 33 countries, Dinh also snapped up a gold medal from the International Federation for Photographic Arts (FIAP).

The photographer also gained second prize and a silver medal from FIAP for a colour photo and was awarded a certificate of merit in the digital photo category.

The seventh Giuliano Carrara international photographic competition also recognised the achievements of two other Vietnamese photographers Tran Phong and Duong Thanh Khoi.-Enditem
