VN calls for Japan’s help in nuclear technology

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam has asked Japan to provide training and education in nuclear technology to help the country develop a safe and secure nuclear programme.

The call was made by Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai during a meeting with Japanese Deputy Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Nakano Masashi in Hanoi on May 15.

The deputy PM thanked Japan for its help in recent years, particularly in conducting surveys and research in nuclear – a new energy Vietnam plans to use in the future.

The Japanese minister informed the deputy PM of a nuclear power agreement his ministry has signed with Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade under which the two sides will strengthen cooperation in studying and developing a nuclear programme in Vietnam .

The two countries previously cooperated on researching the feasibility of using atomic power and building an atomic power plant in Vietnam.-Enditem
