Vietnam-Cambodia rubber plant running smoothly

Phnom Penh (VNA) – Governor of Cambodia’s Kratie province Kham Phoeun has hailed effectiveness of a rubber planting joint venture between Cambodia and Vietnam, a local newspaper said. The Phu Rieng-Kratie Rubber Joint Stock Company project in Kratie province is running smoothly and expects to grow between 1,000-1,500 ha of rubber trees this year, he said. The rubber planting project not only helps maintain stability of the local people’s living conditions but also enhances the provincial economy, said the Governor. The company has so far generated jobs for nearly 300 local people. Established in August, 2007, the Phu Rieng-Kratie Rubber Joint Stock Company has a licence to grow rubber trees in the province for 70 years.-Enditem
