Khanh Hoa (VNA) – A seminar discussing ways to implement the national programme to cope with climate change and rising sea water took place in Nha Trang resort of central coastal Khanh Hoa province on June 4.

The national programme is devised to improve the country’s capability of responding to climate change in each concrete period to ensure national sustainable development and help stabilise people’s life.

Other measures such as finalising the management system, mobilising participation of the whole society, renovating the financial mechanism to attract more capital for the implementation of the programme and enhancing inspection and supervision should also be implemented, the seminar said.

According to scientists, over the past 50 years, Vietnam’s annual average temperature has risen 0.7 degrees Celsius while its sea level up 20 cm. El Nino and La Nina phenomena have exerted great impacts on the country, including floods, droughts and other complicated natural disasters.
