Vietnam imports blue ear vaccine

13/06/2008 -- 10:37 AM

HCM City (VNA) – Vietnam has imported one million doses of vaccine for the blue ear disease in pigs, said the National Veterinary Company (Navetco) in a seminar on the disease held in Ho Chi Minh City on June 12.

According to the Veterinary Department, the vaccines will be provided for 15 provinces and cities in the Mekong delta and the south-east regions.

The Chinese made vaccine has been tested and proved safe in four northern provinces of Ha Tay, Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh and Thai Binh.

According to scientists, viruses found on local pigs are similar to the highly toxic strain that cause the blue ear disease in China.

The seminar has focused on how to use the vaccines and sharing information and experiences on the disease’s prevention in the world.-Enditem
