Havana (VNA) - President of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) Vu Xuan Hong and his Cuban counterpart had a recent conversation on Vietnam’s experiences in encouraging non-governmental organisations to take part in friendship activities.
The VUFO leader during his Cuba visit from June 26-July 2 had a working session with Acting Chairman of the Cuban Institute for Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) Enrique Roman. The host highlighted the efficient cooperation between his organisation with VUFO.
Roman expressed thanks to the Vietnamese people for their active contributions to fund raising campaigns for the Cuban people, strong protest against the US’s embargo against Cuba, and request for freedom for three Cuban anti-terrorist fighters who are in detention in the US.
During his stay in Cuba , VUFO President Hong was received by Director of the International Relations Committee of the Cuban Communist Party Fernando Remirez.
The two sides spoke highly of the fine amity and solidarity between the Vietnamese and Cuban people.
Hong said he was confident in the success of the Cuban people’s revolutionary cause.
In Cuba , the VUFO leader met with the President of the Cuba-Vietnam Friendship Association Yolanda Ferrer, Deputy Foreign Minister Marcos Rodriguez, and President of the Cuban Peace Movement Jose Ramon Rodriguez.
He also visited to the Latin American Medical School , where nearly 2,000 foreign students are studying, and had talks with Vietnamese students studying in schools in Matanzas and Cienfuegos provinces.-Enditem
