05/07/2008 -- 7:24 PM

Da Nang (VNA) – Seventy gifts, each worth 100,000 VND, have been presented to children nursed at the Centre for Agent Orange/Dioxin Victims in central Da Nang city.

Former Vice State President Nguyen Thi Binh, who is President of the Fund for Supporting Vietnamese Children and Honourable President of the Vietnam Agent Orange/Dioxin Victims’ Association, handed over the gifts to the disadvantaged children on July 5.

She wished them to be self confident to overcome difficulties and integrate into the community.

On the occasion of the upcoming Day for AO Victims (Aug. 10), many local agencies and enterprises have also presented gifts to the victims.

The Da Nang Centre for AO/Dioxin Victims was set up in September 2006. The centre is nursing 70 AO/dioxin-affected children, providing them with rehabilitation treatment and vocational training.

The centre has two branches and is calling assistance from benefactors to build the third one in Hoa Nhon commune, Hoa Vang district.-Enditem
