VFF ponders hosting U-16 cup

Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) on July 3 received FIFA’s invitation to host the U-16 World Club Cup sometime between 2009 and2011. However, financial constraints have delayed VFF’s acceptance of the offer. It is estimated that hosting the tournament will cost around 7 million USD. The U-16 World Club Cup attracts some of the best football clubs from Europe and America . On the same day, the Football Federation of Malaysia officially invited Vietnam to compete in the Merdeka International Football Cup on October 15-25. However, the Merdeka Cup coincides with a number of other international tournaments, so Vietnam's attendance is far from certain. The VFF said it would discuss with coach Henrique Calisto before making a decision.-Enditem
