12/07/2008 -- 10:27 PM

HCM City (VNA) - A delegation of Republic of Korea (RoK) beauty pageant contestants and winners and arrived in Vietnam on July 11 for a week-long tour of Vietnam-RoK diplomatic relations.

The group includes the first and second runners-up for Miss Korea 207 and 51 candidates for this year’s Miss Korea tittle.

They will all attend a Vietnam-RoK cultural exchange event, which will include the Hanbok Fashion show to be held in HCM City and Hanoi on July 12 and July 16, respectively. The Hanbok is RoK’s traditional dress for men and women.

The event will feature the country’s culture, cuisine and traditional arts.

More than 50 traditional Tangui dresses, which were worn by women under the Joseon reign on major occasions, will be modeled during the show.

The famous Tiger and Butterfly painting by Seo Gong-lim will also be on display and a solo flute performance by young artist Kang Hyo-sun will be an event highlight.

The presentation of Vietnamese dresses by 10 RoK women as well as charming dances accompanied by flute are also on the programme.

Organisers, including the Korean Association and Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said the event’s proceeds would be donated to help poor children who are seriously ill.

The RoK beauty pageant winners and contestants will also be on hand to cheer for Miss Korea Lee Ji-seon who is competing in the Miss Universe 2008 pageant in the coastal city of Nha Trang on July 14.

The group will then travel to Hanoi on July 22.-Enditem
