Thanh Hoa (VNA) – A total of 126 elderly people will be able to move around more easily with the Australian Embassy in Vietnam donating 10,000 USD worth of wheelchairs to five central provinces this week.

On July 14, elderly and invalid people in the central province of Thanh Hoa received the first lot of 26 wheelchairs. The remaining 100 wheelchairs will be presented over the next three days in central Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh and Quang Tri provinces.

The donations are part of a project funded through the embassy’s Direct Aid Programme (DAP) and is carried out with assistance from the Rotary Australia World Community Service.

DAP provides grants for small-scaled development projects aimed at alleviating humanitarian hardship in disadvantaged communities in Vietnam .
