Taiwanese firm gets green light for afforestation

Quang Nam (VNA) – Central Quang Nam province has licensed Taiwan ’s Innovgreen to build a tree plantation in the locality.

The company will invest 40 million USD to plant wattle and eucalyptus trees to supply wood materials for the paper industry, furniture and handicrafts production.

Innovgreen will lease 20,000 ha of land and cooperate with local farmers to grow trees on a total 30,000 ha in 9 districts of the province.

The province has applied preferential tax policies for afforestation projects in the locality, including exemption of land rents during the project’s implementation period and corporate income tax for the first four years, said the provincial People’s Committee’s Deputy Chairman Nguyen Ngoc Quang.

The Taiwanese firm has invested into afforestation and wood processing in Vietnam since 2004. Its projects have been carried out in Kon Tum, Lang Son, Nghe An, Quang Nam , Quang Ninh and Thanh Hoa with a total investment of 295 million USD.-Enditem
