Party leader: New resolutions meet integration requirements

17/07/2008 -- 11:33 PM

Hanoi (VNA) – General Secretary Nong Duc Manh said the resolutions released at the seventh plenum of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPV CC) are important and strategic, meeting new requirements of the industrialisation, modernisation and international integration.

The CPV CC’s seventh plenum closed in Hanoi on July 17, having adopted resolutions on strengthening the Party’s leadership towards youth-related work, on building the intellectual circle and on agriculture, farmers and rural areas. It also discussed socio-economic situation in the first six months of this year and solutions for the remaining months.

While delivering speech at the closing ceremony of the nine-day event, the party leader also said participants at the meeting straightforwardly and democratically discussed all issues with a high responsibility.

He also praised organisations and individuals for their opinions and preparation of plans for submission at the plenum.

The Party leader analysed the achievements and targets in each area.

The leader said that for the second half of the year the country should continue its tight monetary control policy yet remain flexible in management.

He said it should also maintain a fiscal policy aimed at saving regular spending and suspend or reduce projects which are not pressing.

He also encouraged promoting exports, reducing the trade deficit and continuing thrift in both production and consumption in order to contain inflation.

“We will bring into play strengths of industries and services, promote agro-forestry-fishery production, implement a flexible tax policy to support production and trade, continue to attract foreign investment and promote the disbursement of FDI and ODA capital in order to maintain reasonable and sustainable growth,” he said.

Manh urged the central committee in the last months of this year to focus on taking measures to bring the economy out of current difficulties and implement the 10 th Party Congress’s Resolution.-Enditem
