Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam Children Choir (VCC) has won the silver medal at the fifth World Choir Games (WCG) held in Austria ’s Graz city, the Vietnam Opera and Ballet Theatre’s Vice director Pham Hong Hai announced on July 18.
The VCC, including 13 children, aged between 6 and 15, joined the contest in the folk category which saw the competition of 48 troupes from 30 countries and territories.
In addition to the contest, it also performed Vietnamese folk dances at a Friendship Concert programme at Hautplat Square .
This is the first time Vietnam has joined the WCG, which is held once every two years by the World Choir Association.
This year’s event is considered the largest games so far with around 500 groups from 93 countries and territories taking part in 28 categories.
The prize presentation and closing ceremony will be held on July 19 at Stadthale Palace , Graz city.-Enditem
