China dominates pingpong tournament in HCMC

HCM City (VNA) – Table tennis players from China’s Guangdong and Guangxi won five of the total seven gold medals at the 22nd Golden Racket International Table Tennis Tournament, which concluded in Ho Chi Minh City on July 20. Hong Kong pocketed a gold medal in the men’s single while those from the Republic of Korea defeated host players to win the men’s team title. Vietnam’s male team of number one player Doan Kien Quoc and teammates Nguyen Nam Hai and Dinh Quang Linh had to make do with silver while the Nam Hai-Tran Tuan Quynh duo pocketed the second silver medal in the men’s doubles. Nam Hai also got a bronze medal in the men’s singles. The five-day event drew 110 players, including 49 women, from eight Asian countries and territories, namely China, Japan, the RoK, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong and Vietnam.-Enditem
