Deputy PM welcomes int’l physics professors

Hanoi (VNA) – Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan said the presence of world-renown physics professors would contribute to the success of the International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) 2008 in Hanoi .

Deputy PM and Minister of Education and Training Nhan hosted a reception and a banquet on July 20 in honour of international physics professors who are in Vietnam for the 39 th IPhO from July 21-29.

Deputy PM Nhan took the occasion to thank foreign and overseas Vietnamese professors for their assistance to Vietnam in training physics students and promoting scientific and technological development.

Prof. Friedman from the US MIT University, who won the Nobel Prize in 1990, IPhO Acting President Prof. Maija Ahtee and Secretary General Prof. Hetmuth Mayr and overseas Vietnamese professors will help the IPhO 2008 organising board in compiling tests and evaluating the work done by 300 contestants from 82 countries and territories.-Enditem
