Indonesian economy to grow steadily in third quarter

Hanoi (VNA) - Indonesian economy is predicted to grow between 6.1 and 6.5 percent in the third quarter of this year, with inflation rate to stand at more than 10 percent, the country's central bank said July 21.

Indonesian economy grew 6.3 percent in the first quarter and was predicted to grow 6.1 percent in the second quarter, Indonesian Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati was quoted by news reports as saying.

A survey of market perception at the second quarter of the bank said that the prediction of the growth in the third quarter was lower than the figure in the same period last year which reached 6.51 percent.

Indonesia has trimmed its economic growth target in 2008 from 6. 8 to 6.0 percents after the soaring global oil price.-Enditem
