Samsung to build 1.63-bln-USD biodiesel plant in Indonesia

Jakarta (VNA) – The Republic of Korea (RoK)’s Samsung corporation wants to invest up to 1.63 billion USD to build a biodiesel plant and establish palm oil plantations in Indonesia’s Riau, local media reported.

The RoK’s company has already acquired land and a crude palm oil factory in Riau, Indonesia’s National Team for the Development of Biofuel (BBN) Chairman Alhilal Hamdi was quoted by the country’s Antara news agency as saying.

Samsung plans to build a biodiesel factory with an annual capacity of 50,000 kilolitres, Hamdi said, adding that the factory is expected to come into operation next year. –Enditem
