One fifth of female labourers to get training by 2010

27/07/2008 -- 9:09 PM

HCM City (VNA) – A project on vocational training for women of the Vietnam Women’s Union (VWU) has set the target of providing vocational training for 21 percent of female labourers by 2010.

The ratio of trained labourers in the women workforce will be further raised by 3 percent each year after that.

To this target, the organisation plans to hold vocational training courses for 50,000 female labourers nationwide every year since 2009.

The project, approved by the organisation in Ho Chi Minh City on July 25, will give priority to women in rural and isolated areas as well as the disabled and ethnic minorities.

The VWU over the past five years has given vocational training for over 900,000 people, 93 percent of whom are women and created jobs for 670,000 women.- Enditem
