Vietnam wins four golds, one bronze at 39th IPhO

0728olympicly.jpgHanoi (VNA) – Vietnamese students won four gold and one bronze medals at the 39th International Physics Olympiad (IPhO 2008), which was held in Hanoi from July 20-29.

This is the best tally of the Vietnamese team at an international physics olympiad since 1982, said Deputy Minister of Education and Training Banh Tien Long.

Four gold medalists include Huynh Nhu Toan from central Danang city’s Le Quy Don High School , Do Hoang Anh from the University of Natural Sciences in Hanoi , Nguyen Tat Nghia from the Phan Boi Chau High School in central Nghe An province and Nguyen Duc Minh from the Hanoi-Amsterdam School in Hanoi .

Meanwhile, the bronze medal was carried off by Tran Anh Vu from the Hanoi-based Dao Duy Tu Private School.

The Chinese and Taiwanese delegations led the competition with five gold medals each.

The award ceremony of the IPhO 2008 will be held on July 28.-Enditem
