RoK, US conduct joint annual military exercise

Seoul (VNA) – The Republic of Korea (RoK) and the United States on August 18 launched their five-day annual joint military exercise. The joint exercise, called Ulchi Freedom Guardian (UFG), involves over 56,000 RoK troops and some 10,000 US soldiers. The RoK and US have set up a joint forces command that will coordinate the missions of their separate forces throughout the exercise, according to Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) officials. UFG, formerly known as Ulchi Focus Lens, was first initiated in 1975 and runs on a computer-simulated war scenario, RoK’s Yonhap news agency said.-Enditem
