HCM City (VNA) – Three Vietnamese boys have been selected to undergo a one-month football training in Qatar under the Football Dreams 2008, a programme designed to discover young talents in the field.
Phan Kien Trung from Ho Chi Minh City and Ngo Di Cu and Doan Hoai An, both from the southernmost province of Ca Mau, defeated 47 other peers, all aged 13, in the final round of the competition, which took place in Ho Chi Minh City from August 17-21.
Launched in Vietnam in May by the Vietnam Footbal Federation, the Qatar Aspire Academy and the Khai Minh Joint Stock Company, the Football Dreams 2008 attracted the participation of 12,000 players of the same age.
Along with Vietnam , the United Nations-supported programme is also being organised in a number of nations, including Senegal , Cameroon , Nigeria , Mali , Ghana , Ivory Coast , Kenya , and Paraguay .
It is expected to be held in Vietnam next year for 15-year-old players.-Enditem
