Housing programme for Mekong Delta extended

Hanoi (VNA) – The Prime Minister on August 26 approved an additional 2.4 trillion VND to the second phase of a project to build elevated houses for people in the Mekong Delta where floods arrive regularly every year. The project aims to provide not only safe accommodations but also essential social infrastructure for more than 33,000 households in the region. The households under the programme will be provided with loans to build and buy land and houses in residential areas specific designed to resist annual floods. The State will contribute 905 billion VND to build roads and water supply and drainage systems in these areas. The project will be conducted until 2010.-Enditem
