Electricity measurement regulation in the pipeline

28/08/2008 -- 5:02 PM

Hanoi (VNA) – The Electricity Regulatory Authority of Vietnam (ERAV) on August 28 organised a seminar on developing the electricity measurement regulation targeting a competitive electricity market.

The ERAV said that it has carried out a World Bank-funded technical assistance project on drafting the electricity measurement regulation with the help of New Zealand’s Neil Walbran Consulting Ltd. since 2007.

The first draft regulation has been completed, said the ERAV.

To make competitive electricity market operational as scheduled, the ERAV has designed sample electricity selling and buying contracts, regulations on electricity price calculation methods covering electricity measurement, distribution and transmission networks.

According to the Electricity Law, Vietnam’s electricity industry will be developed from a complete competitive electricity market to competitive wholesale market and competitive retail market.-Enditem
