ASEAN concludes FTAs with three major partners

Hanoi (VNA) – Members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) have concluded free trade deals with India, Australia and New Zealand.

The free trade agreements (FTAs) were reached within the framework of the 40th ASEAN Economic Ministers Meeting (AEM), currently taking place in Singapore.

Indian Commerce and Industry Minister Kamal Nath described conclusion of the FTA between ASEAN and India as an important milestone in regional economic cooperation. India is ASEAN’s seventh largest trading partner.

The FTAs are expected to be signed at the ASEAN Summit held in December Bangkok, Thailand.

ASEAN groups Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.-Enditem
