Decision issued to dismiss a deputy minister of transport

Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on Aug. 28 signed a decision to dismiss Nguyen Viet Tien from the position of Deputy Minister of Transport.

According to the PM’s Dicision No. 1186/QD-TTg, Tien's new task will be assigned by the Minister of Transport.

Earlier on Aug. 12, the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat held a meeting to decide punishment on Nguyen Viet Tien, who was also Secretary of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Transport.

The Secretariat concluded that while in his capacity as Deputy Minister and Secretary of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Transport, Tien lacked a sense of responsibility, having caused serious consequences in management and implementation of ODA projects run by Project Management Unit No.18 (PMU 18).

Tien’s irresponsibility in management and education of Party members also gave rise to many Party members’ breaches of Party rules and State laws, according to the Secretariat.

It, therefore, decided to remove Nguyen Viet Tien from his position as Secretary of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Transport and as member of several other Party Committees.

The Secretariat also asked the Prime Minister to dismiss Nguyen Viet Tien from the position of Deputy Minister of Transport.-Enditem
