Moscow (VNA) – A high-level delegation of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) visited Moscow on September 5-6, the final leg of its Europe tour to promote Buddhism among overseas Vietnamese.
Talking to the Vietnamese community and Buddhist followers in Russia, Vice President of the VBS Central Committee Most Venerable Thich Chon Thien, who led the delegation, said the visit to the six European countries was the first Buddhism promotion campaign the Sangha has launched overseas.
The visit to France, the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Ukraine and Russia aimed to look into overseas Vietnamese people’s life, give preachings to followers, promote Buddhist and national culture, and consider recognising Vietnamese Buddhists’ eligible organisations as members.
During the meeting with the delegation, Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Bui Dinh Dinh said he will propose relevant Russian agencies to permit the establishment of the Vietnamese Buddhists’ Association and their places of worship in the country.-Enditem
