Russian scientist asserts link between AO and Vietnamese victims

28/03/2006 -- 10:14 PM

Ha Noi, March 28 (VNA) - A Russian senior scientist has affirmed that his joint study has proven the link between Agent Orange defoliant sprayed by the US troops during the Viet Nam war and multiple health problems of its victims.

Speaking with a Viet Nam News Agency reporter on the sidelines of the on-going International Conference on Agent Orange/Dioxin in Ha Noi, Prof. Vladimir S. Roumak, who holds a Doctorate in Chemistry, said his joint study was conducted on thousands of people, including those who were exposed to AO, in various localities across Viet Nam over 18 years.
"We will provide legal evidence to illuminate our proven linkage to assist the fight for justice," said Roumak, who is Director General of the Viet Nam-Russia Tropical Research Centre.
He added that many international conferences have admitted a clear relationship between Agent Orange and the health problems of the defoliant-affected people in Viet Nam.-Enditem
