Ha Noi (VNA) - There will be no "safe heaven" for anyone in the combat against corruption and wastefulness, a senior Party official said on Oct. 9 at a meeting of high ranking officials from all parts of the country.
Truong Tan Sang, Politburo member and permanent member of the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee, affirmed the Party and State's determination in resolving detected corruption cases.
The participants at the meeting, held in Ha noi by the Party Secretariat, studied the resolution of the 10th Party Central Committee's 3rd session on promoting the Party's leadership in preventing and fighting corruption and wastefulness.
Sang said the Party should always firmly grasp and uphold a leading banner in the fight against corruption, preventing hostile forces from taking advantage of the situation and cause troubles.
He noted that in addition to imposing strict punishment in accordance with the Party discipline and the law, it is important to pay attention to seizing property in corruption cases and preventing motives for corruption.
To Huy Rua, Secretary of the Party Central Secretary and Head of the Ideological and Cultural Commission of the Party Central Committee, stressed that the resolution of the 10th Party Central Committee's 3rd session reflects the Party's determination to prevent and gradually drive back corruption and wastefulness, creating an obvious change in the building of a transparent and strong Party, State and political system .
During the meeting, which will last through Oct. 10, Vice National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Van Yeu will introduce the Law on Corruption Prevention and Combat, and Chairman of the National Assembly's Legal Affairs Committee Vu Duc Khien will present the Law on Thrift Practice and Waste Prevention.
Key leading officials of provincial and municipal Party Committees, ministries, departments, branches, fatherland front, mass organisations, centrally-run Party committees and State-owned economic corporations attended the meeting.-Enditem
