HCM City (VNA) - Corruption is a "serious illness" that the Communist Party, the State, the Government and the National Assembly of Viet Nam are determined to deal with, State President Nguyen Minh Triet has affirmed.
President Triet told hundreds of voters of Tan Binh and Tan Phu districts in Ho Chi Minh City at a meeting on Oct. 10 that the Party and the State consider the fight against corruption is a focal task at the moment .
The President said the effectiveness of the fight against corruption needs to be worked on, though he appreciates the measures and determination used to deal with the problem.
As a result, the Central Anti-Corruption Steering Committee has been established to strictly deal with corruption and wastefulness at all levels.
At the meeting, many voters highly valued the government's work in carrying out the task of storm and flood prevention and its active role in minimising losses by Typhoon Xangsane recently.
They suggested the National Assembly need to put forward stronger and more effective measures to deal with current pressing issues in its law-making process as well as in law enforcement activities.
President Triet stressed that Ho Chi Minh City's voters made direct and specific recommendations in a constructive way, which did help support the guidance and management by the Party, the State and the Government, as well as to law-making activities by the National Assembly.
He shared the difficulties and pressing issues about the welfare system raised voters in the city, saying that the National Assembly and relevant agencies should focus on better improving the policy and legal system, and enhancing law enforcement ability.-Enditem |
