Ha Noi (VNA)- The Anti-Corruption Steering Board released its 2007 action programme at the end of an important conference held on Oct. 10 with the participation of key officials from governmental and State agencies.
Truong Vinh Trong, Party Politburo member, Deputy Prime Minister and Deputy Head of the Anti-Corruption Steering Board, said the board will push for the drafting of regulations on giving and receiving gifts and gift reporting. It will also work on a plan to supervise incomes of high ranking officials.
The steering board will tighten inspection on the handling of corruption cases which arouse public concerns and speed up the inspection process of scandals at the Prime Minister's order.
The board pledged that final conclusions of these cases will be made public in order to ensure transparency.
The anti-corruption action programme for 2007 focuses on research and scrutinisation efforts to discover loopholes in policies and mechanisms, especially in corruption-prone areas such as infrastructure investment, land management, budget collection and spending, public property management, banking operations and trade transaction.
These jobs should be well done in order to perfect the legal system to support the fight against corruption, said Trong.
He called on agencies and authorities from central to local levels to practise thrifts in production and daily life in line with the law on thrifts and anti-wastefulness.--Enditem
