Ha Noi (VNA) - World Trade Organisation (WTO) entry and its impacts on health care was the theme of a two-day seminar which opened in Ha Noi on Nov. 27.
The seminar, held by the Ministry of Health in collaboration with the World Health Organisation (WHO), was part of a cooperation programme between WHO and Viet Nam.
It is expected to create an opportunity for exchanging information among scholars and experts from research institutes, social organisations, businesses, and international and non-governmental organisations.
During the seminar, experts from the WHO, the WTO, the Ministry of Trade, and the Viet Nam Intellectual Property Department plan to introduce the content of the WTO's health care related agreements, particularly the Agreement on Trade Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS) and the General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS) and their impacts on access to medicines and health care services.
Viet Nam's commitments to the WTO regarding health care and the demand for improving its capacity are also scheduled for discussion at the seminar.
As part of its activities to fulfill WTO commitments, the Ministry of Health has enacted a rule on ensuring security for information in applications for medicine registration in accordance with article 128 of the Law on Intellectual Property.-Enditem |
