Ha Noi (VNA) - "Limiting WTO Negative Impacts - Experiences from Thailand and China" is the theme of a discussion held by ActionAid Viet Nam in Ha Noi on Nov. 28.
At the discussion, speakers from "Focus on the Global South", a Bangkok-based policy-oriented research and consulting organisation, and the Institute of World Economics and Politics (IWEP), talked in details about WTO negative impacts on the lives of poor people in Thailand and China, such as the increased gap in development speeds among sectors and regions, growing unemployment and environmental pollution.
They presented China and Thailand's experiences in reducing the negative impacts in terms of policies and measures to bring into full play the role of social and civil organisations.
As Viet Nam has joined the WTO, experiences from regional economies like Thailand and China will help the country improve the capacity to fulfil its tasks and commitments while taking full advantage of benefits that the WTO brings about.-Enditem |
