Ha Noi (VNA) - Viet Nam needs to build a "legal strategy" now that it has joined the World Trade Organisation, said a legal expert from the Foreign Ministry at a seminar on WTO impacts on Viet Nam's legal system. Dr. Nguyen Thi Hoang Anh, Deputy Head of the Department for International Laws and Treaties under the Foreign Ministry, told the seminar on Dec. 5 that the country has to continue to build, supplement and revise many legal documents to create the legal basis for effective implementation of its WTO commitments.
Peter Naray, head of a European advisory group, said that WTO accession required Viet Nam to ensure the uniformity of laws, regulations and administrative procedures in Viet Nam's territories in conforming with WTO agreements and Viet Nam's protocol on WTO accession.
According to Tran Quoc Khanh, Head of the Department for Multilateral Trade Policy under the Trade Ministry, Viet Nam's commitments for WTO accession have set major tasks for not only the government and State agencies but also to Vietnamese businesses and lawyers.
The seminar was jointly held by the Viet Nam Lawyers' Association and the special board for the 2nd phase of the EC-funded Multilateral Trade Assistance Project (MUTRAP).-Enditem |
