Ha Noi (VNA) - The Central Counter-Corruption Steering Board has ordered policemen and procurators to keep the public informed about the progress of investigatory proceedings against serious corruption cases.
The country's corruption watchdog implied the corruption scandal at the Project Management Unit 18, a case concerning Nguyen Lam Thai's swindling over 40 post offices in procurement of equipment and the case involving power abuse and bribes taking at the Viet Nam Oil and Gas Corporation in addition to the misappropriation of assets involving Nguyen Duc Chi in the central coastal province of Khanh Hoa.
In a report briefing on the outcomes of the fight against corruption in 2006 sent to the Party Political Bureau, Secretariat as well as ministries and localities, Steering Board Deputy Head,Truong Vinh Trong, affirmed the watchdog this year will intensively work on these cases due to their seriousness and complexity.
In 2007, inquiries will be opened to verify responsibilities of officials who cover corruptive and wasteful acts of the people responsible for their posts or promotions.-Enditem |
